Why is it important to choose SPF products with an AUST L number?
An AUST L number is a unique code issued by the Therapeutic Goods Administration (TGA) that shows a product is officially listed on Australia’s Register of Therapeutic Goods.
This means your sunscreen has been tested and approved for safety, quality, and proven SPF protection under some of the world’s strictest sun standards.
If your sunscreen doesn’t have an AUST L number, there’s no guarantee the SPF or protection claims are real.

In light of the recent Choice Sunscreen Investigation, what extra testing have you done to ensure your sunscreen is safe?
Our sunscreen was not associated with the 20 products that failed their SPF testing claims. Yet, after the recent Choice Sunscreen Investigation we did undertake additional confirmatory testing with an independent, accredited SPF testing laboratory to ensure our SPF rating was correct. This 10 panel testing results come back in line with our label claims, validating the SPF50+BROAD SPECTRUM VERY HIGH UVA + UVB PROTECTION you see on pack.
What’s the Difference Between a Physical and Chemical Sunscreen?
The key difference lies in how they protect your skin.
Physical (mineral) sunscreens—made with mineral-based zinc oxide —sit on top of the skin and reflect UV rays away like a mirror. They’re ideal for sensitive or easily irritated skin, as they’re gentle and non-irritating.
Chemical sunscreens absorb into your skin where they soak up UV rays, convert them into heat, and then release that heat from the skin’s surface. They often feel lighter but can cause irritation for reactive skin types.
For those with sensitive, reactive, or barrier-impaired skin, a physical sunscreen is the gentler choice.
